Tartuffe Supreme by Alfred Preisser and Randy Weiner
an adaptation of Moliere's TARTUFFE
June 3, 2009
Tartuffe, or The Imposter, is a timeless story of religious hypocrisy and opportunism. As with previous works (Medea, Electra, Trojan Women, Caligula, Native Son) the Classical Theatre of Harlem will create an original adaptation of Moliere's Tartuffe, set during the apex of the Harlem Renaissance and inspired by the work of Father Divine.
The Great MacDaddy by Paul Carter Harrison directed by Alfred Preisser
September, 2009
CTH will present the first New York revival of this OBIE Award winning play. Originally staged in a 1974 production that featured Al Freeman, Jr., Phylicia Rashad, Cleavon Little and Hattie Winston, The Great MacDaddy is an episodic journey across 20th century America. The Great MacDaddy begins as a princely bootlegger, a prohibition era hustler in search of his lost friend Wine, who holds the mysteries of the race. Insightful, outrageous and heartbreaking, Paul Carter Harrison's play is a classic.
